Prom: Part 1. Asking and Answering.

SO this package arrived at my door.

Inside was this note...
IT reads: "And so it was decreed that each year, the various districts of The Deer Valley Stake would offer up in tribute, one young women to compete in a scavenger hunt, to the death! Not really, but this is still no ordinary scavenger hunt, it is a movie scavenger hunt.
Through your search you will follow each clue, answering trivia questions to determine the next location. If at any time you find yourself in need of assistance, refer to this "helpful" DVD."
Then there was an example clue from one of our favorite movie.
Then my instructions were "Now open your first clue and let the games begin. May the odds be ever in your favor."

My "Helpful" DVD.
Nacho Libre

The answer was: "Read some books" So I went to the library...

Hunger Games

The answer was "The bakery" So I went to the "bakery" in Safeway.

Psych!

This answer was: A drive in theater. But I was instructed to go to my closest theater so I went to Harkins.

Batman!

This final clue's answer was Batman's house. So I had to go back to my house.

During my absence he dropped off this final envelope and my mom stuck it on my bedroom door. This was from  "Wreck-It-Ralph"

"You're a Dynamite Gal".... I like to think so :)
AHH!! :)  The whole scavenger hunt was VERY fun. But this was the best part.
So now it was my turn....
So I decided to put together my own scavenger hunt. After I put it wall together I dropped off the note below at his house. I put it in an envelope and left it by his car at his house. Then I ran ALL the way back to my car which was about a block away. Then I sent him a single text saying:  "Take about 15 steps out your front door." Then sneakily I waited down the street until I saw his car leave.

A show we both like to watch is Arrow. So this clue sent him on a  hunt for my answer.  His first destination was  Walmart.

Then he got this clue telling him to go find the fun size of his favorite candy. Which is Snickers.

Hidden clue.

This clue was the one shown above hidden on a Snickers. It led him to the board game Risk.

Clue hidden on the back of the box.
This was attached to the Risk game. This led him to "his parking spot" at the church. This is kinda an inside joke because we joke about having assigned parking spots at the church.
This lovely note was sitting in an envelope on "his parking spot"
And so was my answer. ALL over  "his spot"

We both love Batman

Pointing to "my spot"

I am So excited for Mormon prom and this was SO much fun. We both like all of the above movies , shows, games, and candy.:) So that was super great. The fact that I was totally surprised and had no idea made it even better.  Not to brag or anything (I can because this is my blog) This was the most perfect, cutest, well thought out/planned, best-est way for a girl to be asked to prom. This is just the beginning to my Mormon prom experience and it is off to a pretty great start, I can tell it is going to be So much Fun.

  1. SO what I'm hearing is that I'm pretty awesome as well. Is that right? Haha.

Thanks for the wonderful feedback, and it was fun planning it out as well (even if it required staying up until 2). I did try and incorporate almost all of your's (and mine) favorite movies and if I couldn't put it into the scavenger hunt, I listed it as an "Example". The one movie although that I didn't get in there was Oceans 12, your favorite one, which I did some research on awhile back with some Q&A's, but I did not feel like sending you to a Bar or a Casino was right as those are pretty much the only scenes in the movie.

My other idea was to actually send you to Batman's house in Buckinghamshire, New England, but that just seemed like a long way to go. Also, I agree that Prom will be "So much Fun" and thanks for your return scavenger hunt. (I actually got to the letter in 13 steps)

Oh and if I could add one more thing to your blog... right after "We both like all of the above movies, shows, games, and candy." could you add fruit. I believe there was a pineapple, or two, in there somewhere.

    1. Well You are pretty awesome.

And I can tell you put alot of effort into it which I really appreciate. Now I am curious though. Were those Q and A's for This purpose? Was I totally tricked this whole time? Or was it an added bonus that you found out these things? Cause that is pretty clever.

Smart idea about not sending me to a bar or casino. I probably would not have been able to find my closest one. Visiting Batman's real house would have been a super fun adventure but then there wouldn't have been enough time in the day for me to reply. Although that does sound like a place I want to visit now.

Like I told you I was really scared that you would catch me so I didn't know how close to put the note and how many steps. I am glad I was close and that you counted to make sure.

Of course how could I forget about fruit! What a shame.

  2. You forgot to mention the part about your mom and sisters hanging out at Walmart, hiding clues and making sure no one bought the last game of Risk or Snickers, but whatever.

  3. Funny thing is, is that awhile ago I tried to buy Risk at Walmart and they were out. So when I was walking over to the games for my next clue I was curious how many games of Risk were left.
